Today was not nearly as challenging as yesterday. Basically the winds were only from the South and only 10-15 mph. Since the route was mostly directly east with some northern movement the ride was doable. I did get in the van at mile 45 and rode to lunch. Then I did another 35 miles and took the van to the hotel. So I only did 75 of the 125 miles. Leaving Sioux Falls at 7 am was a bit tense. Major highways no shoulder and tons of traffic for about 5 miles. Once out of the city the landscape turned back to farms. Today we crossed into Minnesota. The farms along the way were huge and well kept. I stopped in Luverne MN to take pictures because Ann is watching the Ken Burns Documentary on WWII and one of the towns he features is Luverne MN. Ann wanted to know what the town looked like so I took more pictures than usual -- they're not all included below. I was going to ride the last 25 miles of the route but once in the van and getting to a highway with the cement cracks I decided I really didn't need to bounce around that much. In fact I did have to do 10 miles or so of this type of road earlier in the day. Once the road went into a new county the surface changed and I was a happy cyclist once again.
